When the esteemed Greek philosopher Eudemos,
became seriously ill with a fever, the most famous physician of Rome tried every
remedy but to no avail. Death was knocking at his door when Eudemos called in
Galen, a young Greek physician who had recently arrived in the city.
The Roman doctors attending Eudemos scoffingly
